Scholarship to support future social work and nursing students will honor leaders and founders of company

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 15, 2013) Stowell Associates, in partnership with the UW-Milwaukee Foundation, announced today a scholarship to celebrate the company’s 30-year anniversary to honor the leaders and founders of the company and give back to the community.

“It gives me deep personal satisfaction to establish a legacy in the form of a scholarship fund,” said Valerie Stefanich, co-founder of Stowell Associates. “Many of our nurse and social work care managers and other staff have received their degrees at UW-Milwaukee, as have I. It is good to know that this scholarship will assist a student in pursuing a career that can be personally enriching and provide valuable assistance to older and disabled members of our community.”

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a social work or nursing student who emulates the values for which Stowell Associates has been recognized as a national leader in the field of professional care management.

“Helping a student financially is a great way to celebrate our milestone 30 years in business, and will provide ongoing rewards to the community,” said Phyllis Mensh Brostoff, CEO and co-founder of Stowell Associates. “My hope is that we will be encouraging the next generation of social workers and nurses to join us in this specialized practice.”

Stowell Associates is working with the UW-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to establish the scholarship during the first two years. The UW-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare will select the first recipient of the scholarship from its students. In the following two years, the scholarship will go to a student at the UW-Milwaukee School of Nursing.
