Phyllis Mensh Brostoff and Valerie Stefanich Honored With Governor’s Trailblazer Award for Women in Business: April 9, 2014

On April 9, 2014, the Governor’s Trailblazer Awards honored Phyllis Mensh Brostoff and Valerie Stefanich, co-founders and co-owners of Stowell Associates, for starting and sustaining a business at a time when there were few resources and role models for women to do so. The Business Pioneer category honors a Wisconsin business that has been majority woman-owned for 25 years of more.

Stowell Associates is in its 31st year. The Award ceremony was held at the Wisconsin State Capitol, followed by a luncheon in the Governor’s Mansion.

The business started with two founders and a telephone, and has grown to an agency that is nationally recognized for its expertise in care-managed home care services to the elderly, disabled adults and their families. It employs close to 200 people.

Stowell Associates provides care management and care-managed home care services to elderly and disabled adults in Southeastern Wisconsin. Stowell Associates is nationally accredited by The Joint Commission, a designation of excellence. The agency received the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin’s Torch Award for Business Ethics in 2004 and awards in 2011, 2012 and 2012 as one of the Top Places to Work in Southeastern Wisconsin.
